For over a century, Beatrix Potter’s stories have been charming children all over the world, especially her stories about her adventurous bunnies. These adorable little heroes have become a symbol of Beatrix’s talent and warmth. The Royal Mint first started celebrating these characters in 2016, with Peter Rabbit and four other characters, and then in 2017 with Benjamin Bunny and two new characters. The third series brings another bunny to the growing collection with Flopsy Bunny, sister to Peter Rabbit.
Introduced in Beatrix’s story, ‘The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies,’ Flopsy Bunny is married to Benjamin Bunny with six hungry children. The young rabbits get into trouble while searching for food in Mr McGregor’s garden but with the help of a wood mouse, they manage to escape. Flopsy Bunny’s iconic red cape is beautifully displayed on the coin through the bright colour printing. The coin is housed in a clear acrylic case and comes with a fold-out booklet with an excerpt from the story and features some of Beatrix’s watercolour illustrations.
