Introducing the Mr Jeremy Fisher 50p Coin
The Royal Mint first celebrated Beatrix Potter’s 150th birthday in 2016 with a series of five coins featuring some of her most loved characters like Peter Rabbit. For this second series release of the popular coins, the new characters include Mr Jeremy Fisher, the frog from Beatrix’s story, ’The Tale of Mr Jeremy Fisher.’ The accident-prone frog meets a series of mishaps that ultimately cause him to lose his fishing equipment and therefore, serve his friends a grasshopper instead of the minnows he wanted.

The coin’s Brilliant Uncirculated finish highlights the details of Beatrix’s illustration, from the subtle texture of the skin to the creases in the Macintosh that nearly was eaten by the trout. The accompanying fold-out case adds colour illustrations and additional details from Beatrix’s eighth story. The Jeremy Fisher design is by Emma Noble while the obverse side’s presentation of the fifth definitive portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II is by Jody Clark.

How Much is a Mr Jeremy Fisher 50p Worth?
Since the mintage of the BU version has not been released by the Royal Mint, it’s difficult for us to estimate the value of the Mr Jeremy Fisher 50p. But on eBay, as of 2019, a coin, apparently of circulation quality, has sold for £29.99.
Other Versions of the Mr Jeremy Fisher Coins
There is a common circulation version of the coin, minted 9.9 million times. For the coin collectors, there is also a Silver Proof version with colour printing, minted only 40,000 times.
Other Beatrix Potter Coins
After fans loved the first series in 2016, the Royal Mint has released more Beatrix Potter coins for a total of 14 fifty pence coins as of 2019. In the 2017 Beatrix Potter 50p collection there are three other characters joining Mr Jeremy Fisher. They are Benjamin Button, Tom Kitten, and Peter Rabbit in a different design.
