The Tailor of Gloucester™ 2018 UK 50p Silver Proof Coin & Book Gift Set

Despite the title, Beatrix Potter’s third story, ‘The Tailor of Gloucester’, is not directly about the tailor. He’s only a supporting character in a setting where some helpful mice and a grumpy cat create the plot. While working on a waistcoat commissioned by the mayor for his wedding, the tailor falls ill and fears that he will be unable to finish in time. Fortunately, because he had freed the mice that were trapped by his cat earlier, the mice decide to help him, creating a waistcoat that brings the tailor great wealth. One of these mice is featured on the center of the coin, happily reading a newspaper while sitting cross-legged on a reel of ‘twist’. Finished to Proof standard and colour printed on sterling silver, Emma Noble’s design captures the magic in Beatrix’s original illustration. 

This limited edition coin is protected in a clear acrylic case, keeping it in pristine condition for future generations. Also included is the story, bound in a specially designed cover, made just for this edition.  Both the protected coin and the storybook are beautifully presented in a colour coordinated gift box decorated with a gorgeous assortment of Beatrix’s illustrations.
