For 23 brilliant stories, Beatrix Potter has been capturing the imagination of readers worldwide for over a century. In celebration of her life and work, the Royal Mint announced a collection of 50p coins in 2016, timed with what would be her 150th birthday. Since then, more of Beatrix’s adored characters have appeared in British change. The latest release for 2018 welcomes one of the mice from her story, ‘The Tailor of Gloucester,’ to the Great British Coin Hunt.
Emma Noble’s exceptional design is based on Beatrix’s original illustration and highlighted by the Brilliant Uncirculated finish. The mouse sits, cross-legged on a reel of ‘twist’, reading a newspaper with glasses on. The details are further accentuated by the colour printing on this sterling silver coin, housed in a clear acrylic case. The case is not only protects the coin, but also acts as a presentation case. Also included is an informative folder, providing extra details, excerpts, and illustrations from Beatrix’s wonderful story.
